Don't worry to much about the contacts inside the
cap. 10,000+ volts will to that to one quickly. Just
scrape the terminals inside the cap with a knife, you
cam leave the rotor as is.  I run an external coil on
my ZC engine with a plug gap of .057 (Big gap). I go
through caps quicker then most but with my engine set
up, that's where I get the most hp.
 What I have been doing is buying stock caps and
drilling a hole on the coil side to fit my coil wire
without a terminal or boot. After removing the inside
contact and covering it with epoxy, I also put epoxy
around the coil wire and hole.
