The head and block seem to be fine, level and not warped. I've checked both
pretty thoroughly with a good straight edge. I didn't have problems with
the head gasket until it got really cold here in Indiana - down to -4 F and
-20 F with the wind-chill. The engine would leak coolant from the head to
block seal. But it would only leak when I first started it, it would stop
once it got warm. So I think the severe cold was causing the parts to
contract a little and the old head gasket wasn't good enough to keep the
seal. Hopefully just a new head gasket will fix this without having to
resurface the block or head. The head's already at the service limit for
resurfacing, so I'm trying to avoid that.

Whoa!!! What' the story on the head?! Is it level (not warped)? My
brother buttoned-up an Accord motor that wasn't completely flat and the
head gasket started leaking a few weeks later! Be sure the head's okay
before bolting her up!
