There is a problem:

People who significantly contributed to the developement
of free software (all are well-known to those of us who care
about further developement of ssleay) are engaging now to,
lets say, improve and keep up to date the SSLeay package.
Fine.
The drawback: they seem unable to find a common opinion
on how to do it and there is a lot of "shit flying around"
(as some poster suggested). That's bad, really. And it could
stop people from contributing actively in the near future.

But according to Newton's law of gravity the shit will
come down to earth and eventually nature will do good soil
out of it ;-) And after the dust came down all people that
would potentially contribute can make their choice where
the best place for them is. And I'm sure the best team
(best in the sense of more open) will win.

It is a little bit like the emotions after annoncement
of mod_ssl. I don't want to grab in the archives but
the event started with "shit flying around" too. Now
there has been a normal situation: Both packages are in
competition and this is of use for all of us. Some are
like the ideas of mod_ssl while the others enjoy a now
faster developement cycle of Apache_SSL. And the users
have decided to whom they make _qualified_ suggestions
(not only pure wish lists but ideas on how to implement
them).

Therfore I suggest to stop crying, fighting and side with
the one or the others. Instead let give them both a try
and decide in some weeks who to support. Having a look at
mod_ssl and Apache_SSL I'm sure that the concepts of both
parties on how to perform the development are distinguishing
enough to make a backed decision.

And folks, finally don't forget: It's still x-mas time
where peace is an important concept ;-)
