You can take it out of the country for personal use iff you keep it to 
yourself at all times and you return it to the point of origin (all this
does is acknowledge what people were doing anyway).  You certainly can't
take something out and stay outside the country with it, and some countries
also limit the duration of the time outside the country, typically to 90 
days.
