SSH Communications Security Strengthens Technology Team and Authors Book
On Secure Shell

       MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 1999--SSH
Communications Security, Inc. (SSH), the world-leading developer of
Internet security and advanced cryptography solutions, today announced the
additions of Rodney Thayer, director of technology and Anne Carasik,
consulting engineer.

The company also announced the release of Carasik's new book on
network security, "Using Secure Shell," published by McGraw-Hill.

"Both Anne and Rodney bring a wealth of knowledge within the Internet
security segment of the industry," said George Adams, president and CEO of
SSH Communications Security, Inc. "Rodney has been particularly
instrumental in shaping new Internet security standards and fostering the
growth of Internet security. Anne's and Rodney's participation in the
growth of our new U.S. company will be key in developing even stronger
customer relationships both domestically and internationally. Anne's new
book will help educate users about Internet security and its importance."

Thayer brings over 20 years of experience in designing,
implementing, deploying and troubleshooting computer-networking systems.
He is an active participant in the standardization of network security
protocols and practices through organizations such as the Internet
Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the TLS Working Group. He was recently
named to the board of directors of the new VPN Consortium. Thayer
frequently lectures and writes articles for publications such as Data
Communications, and has contributed pieces on IPsec's (Internet Protocol
Security) roadmap and Open PGP (Pretty Good Privacy). He has helped
network technology vendors FTP Software, Data General, Microsoft and
several high-tech startups develop new security products. Additionally,
Thayer has helped large end-user organizations including the Federal
Reserve Bank of New York, Union Carbide, as well as international
financial institutions, manufacturing, and applications software
organizations develop and deploy IP security in large networks.

As consulting engineer, Carasik will participate on network security
related projects including IPsec Internet security packages. Prior to SSH,
she worked on network and system security at VeriSign, Inc. Carasik has
also held positions as network security consultant at International
Network Services and technical consultant for Hewlett-Packard, developing
Internet infrastructure and Internet security. Her experience includes
penetration testing, incident response, network security architecture and
instruction. In addition to her most recent work, "Using Secure Shell,"
Carasik is also the author of "Linux System Administration."

"Using Secure Shell," targeted toward network and system
administrators, will provide the number one resource for securely logging
into computer systems from any remote workstation, executing commands, and
moving files from one computer to another. The book details the strongest
authentication and encryption techniques for use over insecure channels
while addressing the crucial security issues that administrators must
consider when protecting data and systems from unauthorized use.
