> Stefan Brands, the man who's written some great digital cash
> protocols, has just published a new book called "Building In Privacy:
> Rethinking public key infrastructures and digital certificates."

Brands' technology is good, but keep in mind that it is well protected
by his patents:

US05696827 Secure cryptographic methods for electronic transfer of information
US05668878 Secure cryptographic methods for electronic transfer of information
US05606617 Secret-key certificates
US05604805 Privacy-protected transfer of electronic information
US05521980 Privacy-protected transfer of electronic information

In their overall effect and purpose Brands' methods are similar to Chaum's
blinded transfers. Brands is more efficient and elegant, although there
are a few things Chaum can do that Brands can't. Both men have great
and potentially world-changing technology, but both are holding it tight
in the hopes of making money off it, and so far nothing is happening.
