Within this mail, I want to draw your attention to a new and vacant
``full professor position'' in the department of mathematics at the
Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany. See the announcement attached to
this e-mail below.
So far, we advertised this announcement (in a more official-looking
fashion) only in german newspapers. At the time being, I feel that
it might be helpful to widen the search space to the international
community of researchers in cryptology and related fields. Unfortunately,
the deadline for applications is quite soon, namely 08.12.1999. It might
be sort of too late to make an offical announcement to a world-wide
community. However, it might still be worthwhile to forward it directly
to some carefully selected people.
Unfortunately, I am not working in the field of cryptology myself (nor
does anyone of my colleagues) and will probably be ignorant of people
in the community who should know about the vacant position. For this
reason, I kindly ask you for your help:
If you accidentally are aware of a strong candidate, who fits the
requirements of the position announced below and who is likely to be
interested in it, please forward the announcement to him or her.

A ``full professor position'' is vacant in the department of mathematics
at the Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany. We seek top researchers in the
field(s)
``Information Security, Cryptology''.
An applicant should exhibit a strong research record in this direction
(and should have a phd in Mathematics or Computer Science).
B a c k g r o u n d I n f o r m a t i o n
Our university is in the process to build a new
``Institute for Security in Information Technology''.
The researchers within this institute will work on theoretical and practical
aspects of the field. The institute will be managed by a team of three
people: namely the professors for ``System Security'', ``Communication
Security'', and ``Information Security''.
Because of the strong connection between the vacant position and the
``Institute for Security in Information Technology'', management skills
are required (in addition to teaching and research skills).
