Indeed, and that's a great debunking.

MarkMonitor is a registrar, just like Network Solutions, GoDaddy, and countless
others. They offer other services just like all of those other registrars.

This isn't paranoid, it's just ignorant. A truly *paranoid* person would think
that because this is a big whoop-de-do, that it's actually a viral marketing
campaign by MarkMonitor to publicize a number of their big-name clients and get
name recognition. I mean really, the gist of this is:

ZOMG! In the last few months Google, MSN/Hotmail, Yahoo, Apple, Wikimedia,
Nokia, and Ubuntu have all become customers of MarkMonitor! See a pattern? (Cue
dramatic chords, Duh-Dunh-DUUUHHHHH!)

The paranoid person would note that the overblown hysteria is going to be
debunked, and we're left with the customer list of big name companies that
wouldn't let their name be used as references, no how, no way.

This is far more innovative than a press release, gets MarkMonitor interesting
press, and they can just deny it away.

This is a much better conspiracy theory. The other people are pikers, just
pikers, I tell you.
