As I'm building this for Debian, who are in the process of migrating
to gcc 3.2 across all 11 architectures, downgrading ersions of gcc
isn't an option. Also, I'm currently getting the following message
when building with 2.95.4:
fixed or forbidden register 3 (bx) was spilled for class
GENERAL_REGS.
Thinking about this last night, I realised that trying to build petium
optimized code when gcc was building for an i386 might cause problems.
Sure enough, when I add -march=pentium to the command line swithces,
integer.cpp builds successfully. Now I just have to find ot whether I
can see the addition of -march=xxx inside the preprocessor.
[..later..]
Actually it's more complicated than that. The error message isn't
generated on every compilation attempt.

be bothered to exercise the most fundamental right and responsibility
in a democracy, betray the country they claim to love."
