I'm wondering if there is any benefit to performing a pre-encryption transform such as OAEP to a plaintext before encrypting it using a block cipher. I'm thinking it would help protect against partial-plaintext attacks. I had also considered using the Burrows-Wheeler Transform before I knew about OAEP. I also believe there was an algorithm called TRANS that was used for this purpose. Does anybody have any experience/knowledge/suggestions on this subject that they would like to share with me?
