I am seeing a case in which the exception is being thrown. The private key was generated by someone else, not me. I don't know what software was used to create it.
FWIW, the various numbers in the private key (modulus, etc.) don't seem to have any obvious errors.
So since I don't understand what error this check is looking for, I have no idea what to tell the person who created the key. Bascially, she says, "the key looks fine to me; if you don't like it, tell me what's wrong with it" -- and of course I can't, since I don't know what this check is doing :-(
