Hi Jamie, I have never encountered SOSEMANUK previously, so I did a little reading. One of the pages I came across (Wikipedia) states:
During the eSTREAM Phase 1 evaluation process two weaknesses in SOSEMANUK were discovered. SOSEMANUK has still been selected as a Profile 1, Phase 2 Focus candidate by the eSTREAM project. I'm a big fan of standards, so I generally stick with AES (NIST and FIPS) or Whirlpool (European Standard). With respect to Whirlpool, I believe Wei has corrected a small implementation bug on opcode choices when compiling for Pentium IIs and above (he was using a PIII instruction). Also, you might consider looking at some application source code based on Crypto++. See http://www.cryptopp.com/wiki/External_Samples. I place everything out there for others to rip when I can.
