I don't think the code you posted is the problem. I don't see anything obviously wrong with it, and I pasted your function into a block, added enough that it could compile on its own, built and ran.
here's exactly what I ran: http://cryptopp.pastebin.com/fbedaef1 No problems on my 10.5.4 system with g++ i686-apple-darwin9-g++-4.0.1 (GCC) 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5484).
