If I've got an RSA::PrivateKey and PublicKey, what is a/the correct
way of fingerprinting the Public key for visual recognision? Should I
BER/DER encode it and hash it via sha1/md5?
BER/DER encode/decode is the standard manner of making these keys 'human
readable'. A hash would only allow a smaller representation of what the key
might be and you really want the whole key of you are to make the public
part public. The wiki has some pretty good info on key formats, I recommend
starting there.
