Thanks, I will check my code for undefined behaviour. The thing is: I have just removed the -O2 option from the release configuration, and the problem (mostly) disappeared. Neither DDEBUG nor DNDEBUG are defined in the Makefile. Some problems still remain, and I assume they may be caused by undefined behaviour. My friend claims that all non-numerical passwords cause an assert (yes, it finally appeared on Windows 8). Sounds truly strange, as Entangle reads characters, not numbers. Anyway, on Windows 7 only first 57 bytes of original file are left after decryption, so, I certainly need to make a good check (^_^).
