In some future update of the CS CVS, you may notice that either (if you
use VC7.0) a lot of files from mk/msvc suddenly disappeared or (if you
use 7.1 or 8.0) that there are suddenly lots of conflicts. You may also
the appearance of some new directories below mk/, namely msvc7, msvc71
and msvc8.

If you haven't guessed it by now: the directory layout of the VC project
files has changed. There are now separate directories for projects for
VC7.0, VC7.1 and VC8.0 (yup, VC6 support is gone).
(If you're curious why: VC8 needs some specific tweaks that are hard to
do without extra projects, and VC7.1 projects were added half out of a
sort of fairness [since 8.0 projects are there as well now] and half to
silence those lazy bums who whined when they got conflicts in their
converted VC projects ;)

If you want to "migrate" your project settings etc. over to the new
directories (who doesn't like to keep customizations?), copy the *.ncb,
*.suo and *.user(VC8 only) files(there should be only a handful) from
mk/msvc to mk/msvc$YOURVERSION.
After you checked that everything still works, it's probably the best
idea to just nuke the old mk/msvc directory and cvs update it again to
have it "clean" again.

Enjoy!
