Hello. As can be seen in the game Oblivion, the games will have a rich nature. I have so far taken 275 photos which perhaps could be useful as an idea source. Photos are at ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/pics/freephotos/
What license I should use? What Creative Common license means? I will request more volunteers to submit photos in our archives because I don't have access to all kinds of environments. In particular I will ask people who has a good camera such as Canon 350D or Nikon D70. I don't even have a camera because I borrowed one from a friend. The photos are mostly of poor quality because Canon pocket camera overburns too easily -- compare trees and sky -- and because the lens is very poor with heavy glowing. Lately I have this shooting pattern where I take a large scale photo and then I physically zoom-in to the photo for details (by moving the camera). That works well as it folds open the scene. Of course, the open source community should write an ecosystem design software and a tree renderer similar to SpeedTreeRT. I have already collected a plenty of papers on the topic. We already have opentreelib and at least one more tree software at sourceforge.
