I tried the script you are speaking of and had no luck with blender 2.41 I have a script that does work for me, with 2.41, and the latest CS sudo-stable (windows), it is the only version that I have ever seen work for animation and so on properly too. I see the last person to work on it is dcyoung? I dont know where he has it uploaded. Something that may trick you is you have to export materials, and the material must have a texture of type image selected. I can send it to you or possibly upload it if multiple people want it. Let me know if you do.
