Hi Marius,
Updating the Detour library to its newest version should be very simple as
there have been no api changes since I did this last year. Details on how
you can get the latest code are here:

I have no influence on the decision making regarding who gets selected for
GSoC, but I would recommend you at least download and compile the engine as
soon as possible. I would also suggest, if you have the time, perhaps
attempting the update before applying. As I mentioned above this should be
a relatively simple task so would be feasible in the time, and would prove
your familiarity with the existing codebase.
I'm happy to answer any questions you may have regarding my code or blog
entries from last year and, if this project is accepted, I would be keen to
assist in any way I can.
