What are the tax implications when developing a software product based on some code originally written for a client?
Does selling a Website count as a capital item or revenue income? Are you or your clients liable for double taxation if your Websites are hosted overseas? What information must you get from people who download your digital products? Want to know if you should be worried or not? Come along to the Canterbury Software workshop on Taxing Issues, TUESDAY April 8, 3.00-5.00pm, Canterbury Innovation Incubator. To make sure we're tackling the things that concern you, let me know ASAP any specific questions or even general topics you want covered. (I'll collate them anonymously :-) We'll have experts on hand to discuss them, including Michael Mayes from Deloitte. If you're not sure if you should be worried, try taking a look at the IRD's "Guide to tax consequences of trading over the internet", released May 2002. The online version is at: http://www.ird.govt.nz/library/ecommerce/ Bear in mind this was produced in May 2002 and tax law is never written in stone. It's worth reading though to see if anything surprises you -- and if you want to know more, send me your questions and come along to the workshop. Register your interest at http://www.canterburysoftware.org.nz/wksp_regn.htm It's $25 for CSI members, $35 for others -- please note, invoices will be sent out AFTER the workshop. So it's worth joining CSI today, only $50, sign up at http://www.canterburysoftware.org.nz/join.htm See you there, Vicki Hyde for Canterbury Software Inc ====================================================== SPIS Ltd, Box 19-760, Christchurch, NZ http://.spis.co.nz * FREE TurboNote+ sticky note trial: http://TurboNote.com --> via Canterbury Software email forum: Success through Connections Email your messages to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Searchable list archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED] Leave or rejoin the list: http://canterburysoftware.org.nz/forum.htm
