Hi Andrej

One quick question - where does an IT job market come from? I would suggest
from a successful IT industry.

So, personally I would rather spend our efforts growing the industry, rather
than the IT job market. FYI, in our experience we have had little
difficulty finding qualified people, and we have advertised - nationally and
internationally and found a good pool of people.

Job markets in general in NZ are frustrating for seekers, but we have to be
realistic - we need larger and more IT companies, who in turn generate more
business and revenue, which in turn creates an IT job market. This is what
the software cluster and the work that CDC and Industry NZ is all about -
growing the industry and our businesses. It's classic "chicken and egg"
stuff.

I think it is a good topic to discuss, and would make an excellent software
cluster forum.

Hello Sue,

WARNING: this is a relatively long and relatively personally flavored
rambling, you might want to skip it if you don't
like this sort of thing...or are short on time... or dislike ramblings :-)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: (gotta have one) Lack of established and open job market
is hurting everyone in Canterbury IT
industry equally. Employers, recruiters and job seekers should get together
to create IT job market.

(See? I did not mention government, not once!)
