Hi all,

I can only praise Net24 for calling into this forum, it shows that it
works. I think a lot of us would like to see it happening more often. Or
probably is already happening, the connections between potential
employers and potential candidates I mean, during the BBQ or other
activities, without coming into full view, which is even better, but
this is the first time I see it and hear about it first hand.

This however points to some issues with the ads in the Jobs Wanted
section and for that matter with the entire section. I am sure Lee went
there first and didn't see anything suitable. No wonder! From all the
ads there only one points to an email address in New Zealand
(incidentally mine). And none (mine included, mea culpa) says anything
about the candidate being located in Christchurch or Canterbury (though
I am).

So a hint for job seekers: if you look for a job with a company that is
in this forum, say it clear that you are located here. You will probably
have more chances to be contacted hence I imagine local companies will
first search for local talents. It is understandable the concern for
discretion (what if a colleague or even your boss is in this forum too
and finds your ad) but say it somehow that you are available here.

On the other hand I remember seeing PHP, XML and Unix in the same ad two or three weeks ago under an email address at xtra from someone who recently graduated from Canterbury University, I don't recall the details. But that ad is no longer there and Lee couldn't see it. I suspect not because that person got a job in the mean time (no way of knowing hence you cannot delete your own ad) but because the list can only hold a certain number of ads. And is prone to abuse. Right now there is a same jaffer79 with the same ad posted four times.

I know there are costs involved in maintaining this list, but wouldn't
it be worth having a moderator for it too? Like the one we have for this
forum and who's doing a great job with it?

Regards,
Adrian Mageanu

We figure it's one of the uses of the CSForum, Lee -- it's the connections
the Forum and CSI helps establish that, we hope, make such things easier
