Biography of
Bill Baker :
William D. Baker,
founder and President of Baker Associates possesses over forty years of
worldwide high-technology management experience focused on semiconductor
component processes and packaging, computers, memory and communication
systems.
At
Rockwell International, Bill served as Executive Vice President of the
Semiconductor Products Division (now Conexant Systems), responsible for the development and production of up to 25,000 fax and data modems per day. He introduced the multi-chip packaging
strategy to the company in 1984.
During this period, Rockwell became the worlds leading producer of fax
and data modems with revenues more than doubling.
Prior experience
includes Senior Vice President of Operations for Gould-AMI, a major producer of
ASIC and custom memory products and Group Director of Microprocessors at
National Semiconductor leading the development of new and innovative
products.
While Vice President
of the Bipolar Memory and High Speed Logic Division at Fairchild Semiconductor,
he headed the development of the “Isoplanar” process and related industry
leadership products.
Bill’s venture company
leadership experience includes CEO of UniStructure, an advanced high-density
multi-chip module company. He also
served as Chief Executive of Superconductor Technologies, an industry leader in
the development and production of superconductor based electronic components and
systems.
He
worked with Wireless Access (Glenayre), an industry leader in the development of
wireless communication products, having established their operations capability
including advanced interconnect technology through a DARPA advanced packaging
consortium.
Current activity is
in support of investors and entrepreneurs on other technical business
developments involving cost effective, high volume communication and computing
products and related infrastructure.
He is involved with several foreign governments, including

management experience includes several Board of Director memberships (three active), including Sematech, technical advisory boards and capital formation
activities. He keynoted the IEEE conference on multichip modules and IMAPS Workshops, participating in the development of the National Electronics Roadmap
headed by NEMI and the NIST (Department of Commerce) ATP as a proposal
