Hi All,
Any word on specific benefits of a 64-bit OS for the CS:GO environment? @Kyle, With a PAE kernel you can address as much RAM (almost) as you need however only 3.5-4GB per process. Having said that, running a 32-bit OS and 6 TF2 severs means that they can use a max of 4GB each so 24GB in total. Unless TF2 leaks more than 4GB RAM then there?d be no benefit of a 64-bit OS if you were running 1 or 50 servers. I assume TF2 leaks less memory than MineCraft lol J From: csgo_servers-bounces at list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Kyle Sanderson Sent: Monday, 14 May 2012 1:30 PM To: csgo_servers at list.valvesoftware.com Subject: Re: [Csgo_servers] Any benefits 32bit vs 64bit Remember that there is a whole operating system that runs behind SRCDS, and at least on Linux there is a performance improvement. If you're wanting to run more then 3 TF2 servers for instance, you'd definitely want to go for 64bit as SRCDS still leaks a ton of memory. I'm not sure if this is still the case with the new engine, but now were back to OS generics. Thanks, Kyle. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
