I have experimented with this. You have to install the steam client on
your server and keep it running. You do not have to be logged in, just
need it running. I had the issue where steamcmd would crash as well.

What platform is this on?
On my Linux servers I need to kill steamcmd before I am even capable
of booting up any CSGO servers, otherwise it's just stuck in a
crashloop.

Subject: [Csgo_servers] steamcmd crash on csgo connect
Hi all,
Sorry if this has already been discussed.
Am 'trying' to set up a GO server.
In order to combat the steam support library problem i have opened
the steamcmd program and then run the go srcds.
Though on connection to the server from CSGO client, the steamcmd
crashes and then server is no longer available.
At the end of the console on client, i get: "Unknown Command
"joingame"
Thanks for any help :)
James
