To follow on from your lead, I will try and contribute some to this too.
Point taken that I / we could do more to correct this.

 

However, I don't want Valve to see this as a reason to not pitch in
themselves. Throughout the history of server administration, I have always
found the lack of clear documentation direct from the source infuriating.
Especially as patches change behaviours, syntax and the like (see maxplayers
for example).

server. Yes, you will have to register to edit, but it certainly isn't
limited to just Valve employees.
