I spoke about this same issue yesterday. This shouldn't happen no matter what map is on at the server.

Hi there,

Am I the only one who has "accidently" started up a server with a map that is not in the mapgroup that the server currently uses? Am I also the only one who made a changelevel to a map that's not in the current mapgroup?

If so, I really suggest to do it and then try to connect to the server. It won't work and you need to close CSGO via the task manager. There is no proper error message which is very bad because people claim the servers to be not working - which is actually not true. The truth is, that the srcds allows to change to those maps, even it won't work. It just prints a little message to the stdout - nothing more.

I really would appreciate if this mapgroup thing will be reworked asap because many people are very confused by this. It should be allowed to play all maps - regardless what mapgroup is set. Or, if it's really needed, simply not allow to change the map to one that's not in the mapgroup.

Maybe a default mapgroup "allmaps" would be okay, too.

I hope this gets sorted out soon.

Cheers,

Marcel
