The issue should be resolved now, sorry for the troubles.

Also, please be sure to run with STEAMEXE=steamcmd set in the environment (or 
on the command line), it's possible that it was working without that before, 
but it is currently necessary for steam.sh to work properly.

It is a Linux issue.

As someone already mentioned, it's still possible to update the existing 
installation.

To be more precise, you need a folder named "platform" to get SteamCMD working 
properly under Linux.
