I can successfully set sv_cheats and sv_gravity within my
csgo/cfg/gamemode_competetive_server.cfg but if I specify sv_password in
there it does not change a thing - "connect ip:port" still takes me
right in without asking for a password.

billion config files csgo has, there was a default value of
sv_password "" that was messing it up. have you double checked all
your configs to make sure there isn't a random one in there?

when there are already players on the server, but that's not
my problem. I just want to set it at server launch.
