Can you pelase explain how someone can benefit from this in case he
already retrieves the current version via Valves API? Currently I see none.
With my cronjob a webinterface has a build in functionality where A
cronjob gets the current version from the API and checks with the
installed version. In case there is a mismatch update scripts are run.
With a symlink setup this needs to be done only once for each root.
Waiting for an external source to push the update information to my
setup I only would add more delay and another potential error source.
