CS:GO community servers provide valuable experiences to players and
communities, and are serving more players than ever before. Over the
past month, 3.1 mln unique players were observed playing on community
servers and this number keeps growing each month.

We're aware that some hackers or people who try to ruin the game
experience are making attacks to have the server kick all the players,
and render it useless until connection to Steam backend returns,
devaluing both Steam backend and CS:GO experience, potentially creating
a confusing experience for players.

Therefore, we are asking game developers to deliver a proper fix to
ensure steam backend connection reliability.

To be clear, the possible fixes that should be delivered may be (but are
not limited to):

- Implement a mechanism to select the interface and source IP to
establish connection to IP Servers. This way server operators can just
acquire a second internet link with a secret IP to ensure that hackers
won't be able to saturate it.

- Make the server lose custom items only instead of having to kick all
players and remain unusable in the meantime. Team Fortress 2 has this
behaviour and at least it allows players to remain playing while steam
connection backend reconnects.

- Put a steam backend server in each country with issues connection
issues (!!)

Therefore, we are asking server operators to remove any mods and plugins
that falsify the contents of a players' profile or inventory.

If you haven't tried to address this issue before then we request that
you look into this. If for some reason you are unable or unsure of
whether a particular fix would work, feel free to contact us.

We will continue to offer the best game experience to players on zones
where you don't have official servers (and possibly you can't), and may
reevaluate keep insisting if further actions need to be taken to ensure
that we can made a clean and perfect game experience for the community.

Frequently Asked Questions:

- ¿Why don't you acquire DDoS protection?:
R: Not every country has DDoS Protection.

- ¿If Valve finally fix their steam connection issue, wouldn't the DDoS
render your server unusable anyway?
R: In countries where the bandwidth is divided in local (national)
and overseas trafic, there's a huge difference between both, so we have
10Gbps links with 10-100Mbps Overseas bandwidth. All known DDoS that hit
us every week come from outside, so they are capped at 100Mbps and
there's absolutely no interruption at our local network.

- ¿Is your case too specific to be Valve's fault?
R: Maybe, but there are many emerging countries that have this
internet link separation. Riot Games has already addressed this issue
and people are moving to League of Legends as it offers a smooth game
experience.

- ¿Why do you offer gameservers if you can assure reliability?
R: For the same reason Valve sells games in countries where there is
no smooth game experiences.

- Maybe this is not the way to ask things
R: We have already tried to contact Valve in several ways, in the
mailing list and to personal staff mail, first they seem interested and
then ignore us for at least 2 years. We also hired coders to
reverse-engineer the steamclient with our own funds to try fixing the
steam connection issues but the source IP is being taken from the packet
origin IP at steam backend.

Don't worry, we'll keep struggling to cover you offering a low latency
game experience, and sorry for asking things this way, we just want to
gain some attention so you can solve this issue so we can grant smooth
game experience where you can't.

Thanks,
Rodrigo
