Dear all,

sorry, I was out for concerts in Salzburg (as a matter of fact
I'm still on the return train).

I'm very sorry: the AIMI site is currently down and I can't reach
the system operator to make it work. The problem is that they had an
attack and had to shut down the machine and change to a more secure version
and now the symbolic links in the ftp directory do not work any longer.
I'll try to get this solved as fast as I can (yesterday I talked to
the DIST director - DIST in Genova runs the server).

The CVS repository however runs on a completely different server in Rome
and (though it happens to be down sometimes :() it actually is much more
workable. Also, I'm currently not posting new distributions but working
on the CVS alone because I want to find the time to make the
--enable-float-as=DOUBLE work on my distribution (I'm interested in it).
It is really badly broken (I wonder who else is trying to use it..)
and so no luck until now. But I am keeping the versions up to date,
except for 3.57 (which is about to run on my machine right now) because
working with CVS on a 9600 cell phone from Salzburg is not exactely what
you call *free* software :))). But 3.57.0.0a is likely to be in the
CVS repository by tonight. BTW, I don't mind at all any help in
maintaining the unofficial distribution so that it can be snappier
in appearing right after the official one is out, correcting bugs
(believe me I have quite a list) etc.. I will accept any offer that
has the same goals that I have (or better): I don't want to dictate
things but I want to avoid having to part once again and do my
distribution just because I can't find a decent one around :)

thank you so much Dave, what would I do without you.

Well, I might be wrong (can't check now) but I would not be surprised
of pops since your orc opens and closes signal too abruptly. Try putting
a low pass filter (port, for example, or some form of line) after your ampmidi
and see if the crackling goes away.

ciao a tutti,

Nicola

P.S. I don't write to the csound list any longer (I've been thrown
out from the list too many times by now); writing questions concerning
the unofficial csound distribution to the csound-unix-dev list will more
likely get responses from highly esteemed contributors (and less
noise on the sidebands :)
