This is a bummer.
Have you tried Sass? This might make it easier to manage. THere are
GUI apps that can compile or set up your own build tools.
With a little nesting, it becomes:
.italic,
.otheritalicstuff,
em,
i{
.editorial{font-style:normal;}
}
