Hi Linda. The main practical difference between padding and margins is background colour (or backround image). Use padding and you'll see the element's background around its content (which could of course include white space). Margins force elements apart, so you will see a gap between background (where any background on a containing element such as <body> will show through). If both styled element and its container have white or no background, then the choice is yours, though a little padding around text <div>s is usually a good idea.
