The square corners on the original image do not show because they share the white background. The solution to your problem is to edit the picture file, tsr.gif, and make the corners match your background or, better yet, make them transparent so that you can use the same file with any color of background.
They can't be made transparent because then the background color of the box (white) will still show through. She'll have to make them teal to match the background below.
