I think it's really a bug. It looks like a variant of this: <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41412> (btw, is possible to get the text in the float and the outside text to really overlap for almost an entire line box.) It's odd that Safari shares exactly the same problem!
