Unfortunately no,
As far as I know, the col element doesn't actually contain anything... that
is to say you couldn't do any sort of descendent selectors based on a col
(i.e. col.mycol td.mycell {background:yellow;}). This may be something that
could be hacked via JS a la everything hover or something of that nature...
As it is the styles you can apply to cols and colgroups are very limited.
