Thanks Jim. I had a similar test setup but was unhappy with the way the header swells away from the logo graphic at the largest text sizes. I am trying to avoid non-basic markup and styles too so the min-width javascript for IE isn't appealling. I think I'm going to live with the header as I've got it now it seems to work satisfactorily through sensible page resizes and text size changes.
