[A little bit off the topic you are specifically referring to:]

One possible change you might make would be to take the text out of the
graphic and make it actual text, since the text isn't changing between
normal and :hover states.  This would help the accessibility of your
site in that screen readers wouldn't need to read image alt tags, at
least.  I'm not as "fluent" in accessibility as I'd like to be, so if
I'm wrong someone please correct me!
