Exactly. Consider the Shed a simulator of a maintenance task. Many
times we get allocated to a project that is already out of order or
the templating language just does not allow you to change it without
breaking 20000 other pages. This is when you need to prove that CSS
can even help there. True, it might be less optimised compared to the
CSS you can create when you get all the hooks you need, but it still
beats mixing presentation and layout just because the templating
engine is outdated.

I was basically annoyed by the CSS Zen Garden becoming an image
replacement contest rather than a showcase for the powers of CSS. Many
times I sat down with clients whom I had to help to redesign their
site. These are councils for example who legally have to be
accessible, resizable and all that jazz. If you show an elaborately
graphical Zen Garden design as an example of the powers of CSS you
lead non-technical clients to believe that this is possible by CSS
magic. The repetition of explaining that something like this is only
possible when you know and control the markup, and when you don't
change the amount (or sometimes even size or language) of elements is
something I've grown entirely sick off. I thought it was time to show
that CSS can cater for different situations, that there is beauty in
flexibility and giving up control for the users benefit.
