Schalk: I use em's all the time.
Oddly enough the only time I use a different measurement is for font sizes, where I use x-small, small, medium, large, x-large. That way I don't have to worry about nesting em's. Like nesting percentages, they accumulate (i.e., 80% of 80% is not 80%).
