I think the default margin on the UL inside topmenu is causing it 
because of collapsing margins.

It has a computed margin of 16px which is bleeding out of the coloured 
background.

You could try setting the margin on the UL in topmenu to zero?

PS - Check out the FireFox DOM inspector - it allows you to see the 
computed values - saved my life today, and also helped to see some of
