Nothing like a good giggle in the morning, thanks all.

I just wanted to address this quickly, since the point is moot now.  No, 
this was *not* for a local intranet - it was for their actual website for 
the public.  These guys seriously believe that the majority of their clients 
use IE4.  But thanks to responses from this list (and anothe rone I'm on) 
they did see the light.

My solution *was* to redo the site in table layout - it would be either that 
or a javascript browser sniffer to serve up a proper stylesheet for IE4 
(blegh - which I think would have been more effort that it was worth.  So, 
it was either the info I passed along to my boss, or the fact that wiping 
everything and starting over from scratch (in essence, paying me twice to do 
the same site layout) was what convinced them that they were wrong.

(and by the way Pete - I *do* actually have Nirvana and Pearl Jam on my 
iPod - used when working :) )
