I am attempting to clarify my muddled thinking on various types of positioning by restructuring this page...I am trying to position the datestamp so that it appears at the top right of the banner and stays fixed even when the browser is stretched at higher screen resolutions. I have been going round and round on this...z-indexing does not seem to work with either relative or absolute positioning. Could someone suggest to me the best way to go about this?
Also, a similar problem...when I try to center the container (by adding a width to the container), the menu stays over to the left when the browser is streched. Also, do I need to float the content when I use relative positioning? (The content should be appearing right under the banner). In general, am rather confused as to when to use absolute vs. relative vs. float. I have done all three at various times but its been sort of a hit or miss thing but I am now attempting to really understand how this all works (unsuccessfully). (BTW, I had done a lot of reading on all this, but I think seeing it in relation to my specific site here would help). http://www.drkdesign.com http://www.drkdesign.com/drk_css/drk_import.css Thanks!
