I would suggest looking into the Sliding Doors method here;
unfortunately, horizontal menus and rounded corners tend not to mix.

If you still want to try it this way, though, I suggest looking into
using a combination of inline-block and table display settings instead
of floats.  IE tends to do odd things in the presence of floats...
