http://rochoet.newcitymedia.com/layout_behavior.gif I drew it out. All I want is for the Navigation which is static and the content area which is floated to act independently of each other. Since the page wrapper contains the footer the clear catches the main-content block and expands page-wrapper for faux column effect. My main issue is that in IE the non-floated wrappers expand to contain the floated main-content.
