Well, if the validator were any good, it would tell you to use a valid

That layout-solution clearly hasn't been tested with user-options such
as 'font resizing', 'ignore font size' and 'minimum font size'.
I won't say that it is breaking - it is after all an em-based layout,
but it is hardly optimized.

Number of columns doesn't really matter, but the way you approach it does.
