I would think that as web designers we should be trying to make our
sites as widely available and operational as possible. Given that IE7 is
only available to people using XP or server 2003, it seems rather harsh
on everyone else to make sites inaccessible to them. A large percentage
of offices use older operating systems (the last 3 companies I worked at
ran windows 2000). Whilst we probably all agree that firefox is superior
to IE, it is quite difficult to explain that to my mother (for example)
who runs windows 98 for her minimal browsing needs.
I find coding for firefox and then adding a simple conditional comment
calling in an IE6 stylesheet is really not that much extra work to
accommodate these legacy users.
