Hello list,

Due to bad testing practice, I've only just noticed an absolutely
crippling problem on the site I'm currently designing.

Here is a carbon copy of an example problem page:

http://sandbox.test.textmatters.com/bssh.html

My client has been uploading content (such as this) and emailed me to
point out a bizarre problem whereby a link he had made wasn't clickable
in IE6. I thought 'Hahaha - silly little IE' (all other browsers are
fine) but it's actually a serious problem.

A large section of the text cannot be selected by mouse. My hypothesis
is that an object in the navigation is extending some invisible part of
itself right across the content. I'm fairly certain of this - despite
the fickle DOM inspector telling me that every object within the nav
fits within the obvious visual space of the nav. A look through the
metrics of those objects also suggests that everything there is properly
contained, so maybe my gut feeling is wrong after all.

I also considered for a second that my use of z-index at various points
in the nav display (necessary because overflow has to be hidden for the
variable height effect), but removing all z-index rules from the CSS
properties didn't solve the problem (it just ruins everything).

Completely baffled on this. Any insights and suggestions much appreciated.

Regards,
Barney
