I have used the method you describe for several years, and haven't encountered any problems. I know of only one possible disadvantage with it: IE/win (all versions) will not get the CSS file if you add 'media' to the @import, so the following... @import url(basestyles.css) screen; ...will give pretty unexpected results. Of course, that IE-bug can be turned into an advantage, as described here... <http://www.gunlaug.no/contents/wd_additions_12.html> I use @import so that basic stylesheets for a 2-column, a 3-column and other possible base-layouts, all imports the same stylesheets for what's common for these layouts. I then use @media wrappers in each stylesheet for media-specific styling. regards Georg -- http://www.gunlaug.no ______________________________________________________________________ css-discuss [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.css-discuss.org/mailman/listinfo/css-d IE7 information -- http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=IE7 List wiki/FAQ -- http://css-discuss.incutio.com/ Supported by evolt.org -- http://www.evolt.org/help_support_evolt/
